Cat People

Cat people: I guess that’s what this new family member makes us! Lookie what we brought home on Sunday..

Scout

This little girl was rescued from the streets of Los Angeles a few months ago. We saw her ad online and just HAD to meet her. After a bit of back-and-forth with the rescue agency, we were finally approved to adopt her! We later found out that she was the agency’s favorite rescue – they didn’t want to give her away to just anyone!

Scout

We considered many, MANY names for her, like Penny, Stella, Winnie, Olive and Ruby – even Raisin was in the running for a while! But once she settled in at home and we got to know her curious and mischievous nature, one name sounded perfect!

Scout

Meet Scout! We both agree it is totally fitting. She is super cute, even when she is hunting our feet under the covers as we try to fall asleep. Instead of meowing, Scout usually prefers to communicate with a low, loud purr, or a high-pitched chirp that sounds more like a bird than a cat. When she’s really happy, she combines her purr and her chirp and sounds like a cooing dove!

Scout

Scout is an orange tabby, which is pretty rare for female cats! A little research taught me that only about 25% of orange tabbies are female. She has so many cool and unique markings. I love that all four of her white “socks” are different, her orange spots on her “wrists,” and her white right cheek! Marcus’ favorite Scout feature are definitely her little black nose freckles.

Scout

She has definitely made herself comfortable in our house! While I’m in my usual spot on the couch with my laptop, her favorite perch is on my shoulder! I shot a quick video to demonstrate.

“Having a cat means never having use of both your arms.”

Who are your best “fur friends”?

Aw, she’s so cute! We’re still sleeping with the windows open at our place (holding out as long as we can against the dwindling outdoor warmth), but when the weather cools, Sydney makes himself comfortable in our crotches. Apparently it’s cozier there?

Adorable! When Boshi was a baby he used to sleep on my shoulder as well, it was his favorite spot, he still does it occasionally but he can’t really fit up there now, I have to hold him up :)
We look forward to meeting Scout in person! welcome to cat personhood!

Scout is perfect!! Beautiful to look at and fun to be with. Welcome to the cat-lover’s society.
Sophie/Scruffy spends a lot of time on my shoulders, too.

So cute! And I love that name– my best friend also named her cat Scout, and it is perfect for a little troublemaker
