Bonus Day: What Will You Do?

by Kira @ Her New Leaf on February 29, 2012

I love this post written by Chantelle at Fat Mum Slim about a different way of looking at the twenty-ninth of February. We are always claiming that there’s never enough time; not enough hours in a day. Why don’t we look at today, “leap day,” as a gift? Even if the extra day is only a ceremonial one, think about your actions today – use your leap day to do something you want to do. Or something you need to do. Or something that will make you feel better once you do it.

I plan to use my leap day to…

Write an actual, real-life letter. On paper. I have two brand new pen pals through Handwritten and the Postcard Swap, as well as friends that I owe hi/I love you/I miss you notes. Getting done today!

Tie up loose ends at work and school. Having things on my to-do list stresses me out! Today I’ll check them off and feel better about it.

Read and reflect. I mentioned to a friend who I was confiding in last week that I need to pull out my copy of Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff again. This book is an oldie but goodie, and it really helps me to put things into perspective when I start to freak out about little things. Today I’ll dig it out and translate its lessons to my life.

What what are you going to do with your “extra” day?

An extra day – great way to think about it (as that is what it is!). I focused on the rareness of the day and made a list of the things I’d like accomplished before the next Leap Day.

What a great idea, Helena!
