Blogging is fun, but if you don’t have a huge following, it can be a little isolating, no? Maybe you’ve told your friends about you blog but they just don’t “get” it. If you’re looking for a place to meet other bloggers, learn new things, and share your story, check out these blogging communities.
Better Blogger Network
The Better Blogger Network was created by a group of bloggers who wanted a place to share their knowledge and learn from others. BBN is comprised of a blog with informative posts, but its best feature is the forum where supportive bloggers from all over the world ask and answer questions and share their experiences with others.
Independent Fashion Bloggers
It’s not just for fashion bloggers! The blog at IFB is full of helpful posts written by a group of successful bloggers who are ready to share their invaluable knowledge. IFB is on my must-read list as a resource for all bloggers, but style and fashion bloggers will probably most benefit from this community.
Blog Brunch
Anchored by a monthly Twitter chat, Blog Brunch is like a giant brainstorm session with some seriously savvy rising bloggers. I have participated in several Blog Brunches, which take place on the first Saturday of each month, and I always find myself leaving the chat feeling twice as informed and inspired as when it began.
Alt Channel
The minds behind the blog conference to end all blog conferences created the Alt Channel to bring Alt Summit to everyone year round. Alt Channel hosts online courses on every topic from finding your niche to creating your first media kit. Each class is a steal at only $15, making this resource within every blogger’s reach. Each class is taught live by a expert and you can chat and network with fellow participants throughout the duration of the class.
Do you participate in any blogging communities? Which are your favorites?

I’m a member of a few of these- as well as Blog Trends. It’s a weekly twitter chat (#BlogTrends) each Monday at 9 pm, and they also have a website with forums, articles, etc.

Thanks for sharing, Rachel! I have heard of Blog Trends and a few others but I don’t have much personal experience with it so I thought I’d let others do the recommending : )
This is exactly the way I’ve been feeling about my blog! Usually I give up on a blog because I feel no one is listening. Thank you for posting these resources!

Blogbrunch is my favorite – the chat is very fun and vibrant and I’ve met some wonderful and inspiring people through it. Did you participate in the latest brunch?

Very helpful for those of us climbing this blogging learning curve. The frustration can be immense at times and having a community of people who can help will be fantastic. I’m going to check each of these out.
Thanks so much!

A friend and I are working to get “hyper-local” with our blog community in SoCal, developing a curated collection of posts from bloggers who best showcase the SoCal lifestyle. It’s a way to support each other and help one another grow our blogs, as a peer and professional community. So.. here we go! (late October launch date!)

Hi Kira!
Thank you so much for sharing! I just started my own company and just got my first blog. It’s all so new and I have much to learn, sometimes it’s seems
just too much. It’s very diffecult to attrack followers when you just got 8 posts. I hope to learn lots from you!
Thank you!

Rachel, the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to keep it up. For a long time, my only followers were a few friends and family members – what you see now is the result of two years of hard work! You can’t expect it to be easy, but if you love it, you’ll have fun doing it. ; )
Hi Kira, I’m a fellow BYW 2.0 student. I’ve taken one class with Alt, which I loved, and I hope to take more. I also just signed up with Independent Fashion Bloggers and I’m so glad I did! I’m not technically a fashion blogger, but I do write about it from time to time, and it’s been great connecting with other like-minded bloggers. I was hesitant about doing it at first, but it’s been a great way to network. Thank you for writing about this.

Great job putting yourself out there, Catherine! Networking can be a little scary at first but it’s worth it!
Going to check out BBN. Already missed out on registering for Alt so I won’t agonize over what I’m missing out on on Alt channel…not for another year at least.
Thanks for sharing!

Oh, the courses are totally separate from the conference, they don’t even really make mention of the conference. Just supplemental information that everyone can benefit from!
Hi Kyra!
I just came across your blog and am loving it!
I have only been blogging for a few months now and am slowly building my following, I had joined IFB but sadly, I was quite disappointed
I absolutely love all of their articles, they are incredibly helpful and informative. What I disliked was the community itself, from the moment I signed up I suddenly had 60 requests stating “follow me and I’ll follow back” this continued the next day and I decided to unsubscribe. I want to grow my following just not in this way, it seems as though most people (this is obviously a generalization) on there want as many followers as possible to be able to get freebies. So after that I hesitantly joined BBN and I was pleasantly surprised! Everyone there has been so friendly, welcoming and helpful. This was of course just my experience but I hope it might help people who possibly read my comment think about what it is that they want out of a blogging community, then go try them all out and see what their own experience is like. : )
(I have spoken to quite a few bloggers who feel the same way, and I hope that sometime in the future there could be some type of rule against these outright requests and then I would LOVE to join IFB again)
xo
Alex
Hi Alex! Thanks so much for your helpful comment, I was hoping to hear some personal experiences like yours. I’m sorry that was your experience with IFB – like I said, I don’t participate in their community since I am not a style blogger, but I find their blog to be really helpful. But I am so glad to hear you are enjoying BBN! The bloggers over there are really sweet and helpful. This is why we are lucky there are so many different communities out there – different things work for different people!
Thanks again for your comment, I hope you’ll keep reading along : )
Absolutely true, different things do work for different people!
I’m happy to have added to the conversation! And will definitely keep reading along.

I also wanted to add that I really appreciated your e-mail, that was sweet

I came across your blog via BlogLovin which I decided to join after recently going self hosted after having a free wordpress blog for some time. Well what happened was that once you drop the WP.com and join WP.org, you kind of vanish off the radar of the very useful blogger community building WordPress Reader feature that WP has. And that actually made me so sad b/c even though I could still read other WordPress blogs on there, they wouldn’t get new updates from my new self hosted page unless they specifically input my new domain name into their Blog Follow list vs clicking a follow button internally in WP. So I joined BlogLovin in hopes of discovering new bloggers and communities via that. So far I’ve found you! Thanks for all your great links to blogging communities. I’ll definitely check them out!

Hi! This is a great list (and cool idea for a post). If it is OK, I also wanted to mention Type-A Parent. It is a community for parents who blog that was established almost six years ago.
