PRIMP MY BLOG

While working on my blog’s redesign, it was a (lofty) goal of mine to do all of the design work myself. Considering I am a self-taught Photoshopper, have minimal HTML experience, and little to no CSS knowledge, this was a lot to take on. I found it really difficult to find the information I was looking for out there on the big, bad internet, and the information I did find was often too technical for me to understand or poorly translated to English. But I accomplished my goal, and I love my new blog, and in the true spirit of Her New Leaf, I learned a ton of new things in the process!
I’m excited to share my knowledge with you in a feature called Primp My Blog. I hope to present the information I find all over the internet in an easy and readable way so that someone who is brand new to blogging can utilize it. Please let me know what you hope to learn, and I will do my best to learn it myself, then share here!
If Primp My Blog has helped you improve your blog, consider adding a button to your sidebar or blog roll to share with your readers.

I’ve tried adding you smallest button to my blog, but it isn’t working
This is a fantastic series! I’ve given my whole blog a facelift with your tips- thanks!
Thanks for the tips. I was able to add the social media icons to my sidebar (typepad blog) thanks to your help. I pinned a link to the post on pinterest.
The small button isn’t working for me either!
Okay I got the small button to work for you Kira! Your HTML code was missing > before the ending tag. Hope this helps everyone! Your button is now on my blog and I love all your tips!
Ah, sorry about that, Danielle! It just goes to show that one little mistake can mess up your whole code! Thanks for letting me know!
Thanks for the comment on my blog series, I Heart Blogging. I hopped on over here and I’m excited to read your series. I LOVE the design of your blog and plan on sticking around and getting to know you better!
Something I’d like to learn is how to create links to the previous and past posts when you’re looking at a post on its individual page. An example will help this make more sense. On A Beautiful Mess, when you look at a post like this one: http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/2012/03/highlights-scrapbook-diy.html at the top of the page, just under the post’s title, there are the options to see the previous post, the next post, or go to the main homepage. It’s simple, small, and I think it would help drive traffic. I just can’t figure out how to do it myself.
Très jolie tenue! j’aime beaucoup
I had to bookmark this page for future reference. My blog needs work!

Sorry about that, Molly – thanks for working it out for me! I changed the way the codes are displayed so I think they should work just fine from now on.
I’m a new blogger and this is just what I need.
You did a fabulous job on the blog design. I love it! Especially like how your leaf design starts in the header and surrounds the whole blog – looks great! So fresh and original.

Hey Kira,
I love primp my blog! It’s helped take my blog to a new level. I don’t think I’m ready just yet, but I would like to learn about when is a good time to look for sponsors, and how to get/manage sponsors.

Kira –
This is the best blog I’ve randomly stumbled upon! I’ve been online for a couple of years now, blogging and e-commerce, and while I’ve learned a lot I’m not the most tech savvy individual. Your blog posts, however, are FANTASTIC and have given me the tools I need to do many of the things I’ve gladly paid someone else to do.
Thank you for your generosity!!
Stylishly yours,
Kalyn
Thank you for the kind words, Kalyn! Glad I could teach you some new skills!
I found your blog through twitter and have found it very useful! I just downloaded the free theme from Bluchic that you mentioned and love it. I put your button on my page as well
Keep up the great work!
Just gave you a shout out!

Hi! Thanks so much for your WONDERFUL Primp my blog section!!! It has been a fabulous inspiration for me to work on whipping my blog/website into shape. I have been able to add your adorable butter colored social buttons (oh and thanks for the technically challenged instructions – that was just what I needed) and the flags were great too, as I was able to customize them a little further for my new splash page.
So fantastic!!! Thanks a million times over!
I am so happy that I found you!! Thank you for all the blog help. I am waiting until Sunday to start reading and implementing

Hugs,
Bj
